German authorities intercept illegal chemicals sold via the Internet

On 10 April 2014, police forces controlled a car parts supplier in Bönningstedt, after a search warrant was issued by the Court in Itzehoe, Schleswig Holstein. Various illegal chemicals were found, such as automotive coatings, which were bought from an US based supplier and resold via the Internet. Among the deficiencies of the products: the labels were not in the German language, the maximum allowed concentration of toluene was significantly exceeded in one product, in which case the product is not allowed to be sold to the general public. The value of the products is expected to raise to five digit amount. The authorities in Schleswig Holstein were informed about the case by the German task force in charge with monitoring chemical Internet trade activities.
